Natalie Hannan is a Dame Kate Campbell Fellow in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences (MDHS) at the University of Melbourne. She is Head of the Therapeutics Discovery and Vascular Function in Pregnancy Laboratory and a recognised leader in women’s health and pregnancy research. Her work focuses on developing and delivering safe therapies to treat major complications of pregnancy, and more recently, evaluation of drug safety to enhance equity of access of therapeutic use in pregnancy. Her fundamental research discoveries have been translated into international clinical trials.

Natalie’s research has been recognized by the award of continuous funding support through eminent Fellowships and research grants, with over $17Million in competitive funding. She has a strong research profile with over 170 peer-reviewed publications. She has received several prominent awards including the International Federation Placental Associations (IFPA) Andrèe Gruslin award, the Society for Reproductive Biology (SRB) Robinson Research Institute Excellence in Reproductive Biology award and the Mercy Perinatal Women’s Health Medal.

Natalie is a Director of the Society of Obstetric Medicine Australia and New Zealand (SOMANZ) Board, and the Graeme Clark Institute Steering Committee. She serves as the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Secretary for SRB, and Associate Editor for the journal Reproduction. She is immediate past President of the Australia and New Zealand Placental Research Association, and served on the IFPA Executive (2017-2024).

Natalie is the Associate Dean, Diversity and Inclusion, MDHS; providing leadership and strategic oversight of the Faculty's progression towards enhanced diversity, equity and inclusion, and implementation of key action plans aligned to Faculty/University strategies and key accreditation bodies.
