Dr Alexandra Peters

Dr Alexandra Peters is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Newcastle and Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI), in the HMRI Reproductive and Family Health Research Program. She was awarded her PhD in 2025, which explored age-related and environmental factors contributing to poor oocyte quality.

Alex’s current research forms a key component of the MRFF-funded study led by Dr Jessie Sutherland, investigating how low-level exposure to bisphenols found in food and drink packaging impacts oocyte quality and female fertility. Her work aims to generate robust evidence to help inform policy changes and safer regulations to safeguard fertility against environmental contaminant exposures. Alex is committed to fostering inclusivity in the research environment and in science communication.
