A/Prof Arianne Sweeting

A/Professor Sweeting leads the Maternal Metabolic Health clinical research program within the WHO Physical Activity, Nutrition and Obesity Collaborating Centre, Charles Perkins Centre, University of Sydney and Department of Endocrinology, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Her research advancing precision medicine in diabetes in pregnancy has resulted in NHMRC, ADS Skip Martin and Australia-Harvard Fellowships and publications in high impact journals including New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet and Nature Medicine. A/Professor Sweeting’s international leadership in her field includes co-chairing the IDF Early Gestational Diabetes Consensus, leading the GDM working groups for the Precision Medicine Diabetes Initiative and diaTribe International Diabetes Technology in Pregnancy Consensus, as well as her role as an external expert for the WHO clinical guidelines on maternal and perinatal health and non-communicable diseases. Nationally, A/Professor Sweeting was President of the Australasian Diabetes in Pregnancy Society, co-authoring their 2025 gestational diabetes screening and diagnosis recommendations.
