Professor Donald Ward

"Donald Ward is Professor of Physiology at The University of Manchester, UK. His research focuses on the physiology and pathophysiology of the calcium-sensing receptor (CaSR), with particular interests in mineral ion sensing, phosphate homeostasis, endocrine regulation, and CaSR signalling mechanisms. His laboratory combines molecular, cellular and in vivo approaches to investigate how the CaSR integrates extracellular mineral signals to regulate tissue and whole-body physiology. Professor Ward has made significant contributions to understanding phosphate sensing by the CaSR and its role in mineral metabolism. First working on the CaSR in Boston in the 1990s, he has since authored numerous publications in the field and is an active contributor to international CaSR research collaborations."
