Dr Huan Chan
Dr Huan Chan (MBChB, FRACP) is a General Physician and Endocrinologist based in Christchurch, with a clinical and research focus on lipid disorders and diabetes. He runs a specialist lipid and diabetes clinic providing individualised cardiovascular risk assessment and contemporary management of dyslipidaemia and diabetes. He is Principal Investigator for a paediatric clinical trial in familial hypercholesterolaemia and is actively involved in clinical research with New Zealand Clinical Research. His clinical and research interests centre on apoB-based cardiovascular risk assessment, the concept of cumulative lipid exposure, and the use of coronary artery calcium scoring to refine primary prevention decisions. He has a particular interest in translating emerging lipid evidence into everyday practice within New Zealand's funded prescribing environment, alongside the role of diet and lifestyle in reducing long-term cardiovascular complications.
