Prof Diva D. Leon-Crutchlow

Diva D. De León-Crutchlow is a Professor of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She is Chief of the Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes and Director of the Congenital Hyperinsulinism Center at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), the largest center in the world dedicated to the management of children with hypoglycemia disorders.

Dr. De León-Crutchlow obtained her MD degree at the University of Panama and a Masters in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her training in Pediatric Endocrinology at CHOP. Dr. De León-Crutchlow specializes in hypoglycemia disorders, particularly, congenital hyperinsulinism. She has led efforts for the establishment of evidence-based guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of neonatal hypoglycemia and congenital hyperinsulinism with the goal of improving long-term outcomes. Dr. De León-Crutchlow is the principal investigator of an active translational research program that focuses on examining the molecular mechanisms and pathophysiology of hyperinsulinism, identifying novel therapeutic targets, and developing new therapies for this rare condition.
