Thakker is Professor of Medicine at Queen Mary University of London, Emeritus Professor of Medicine at University of Oxford, and a Fellow of The Royal Society (FRS). He has authored over 500 publications, which include papers in New England Journal of Medicine, Nature, Nature Genetics, and Journal of Clinical Investigation. He has received many prizes which include: Avioli Founder’s Award from American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR); and Dale Medal from Society for Endocrinology (UK). He is editor-in-chief of Journal of Bone and Mineral Research and was appointed as an OBE in the King’s Birthday Honours list (2024).
